Mr. Abu-bakarr Kargbo, Commissioner, Northern Region
Abu Bakarr Kargbo was born in Matotoka, Tane Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, North-East Region of the Republic of Sierra Leone in 1974. Attended the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood(SLMB) Primary School Matotoka and the Magburaka Secondary School for boys Magburaka (MSSB) where I attained my ordinary Level in 2002, I proceeded my tertiary education to the Port Loko Teachers College where I gained my Teacher’s certificate and later gained admission in the same institution for my higher Teacher’s Certificate.
After few years, I was offered an admission at the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology Makeni University College to pursue a Bachelor in Education degree (B.Ed) in Linguistic/ Literature. I worked as a teacher at the SLMB Matotoka Starting from a pupil teacher to the rank of Head Teacher, a volunteer for the National Electoral Commission(NEC), Enumerator for Statistics Sierra Leone, Community First Aider for the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society, Community Animator for the Community Animation Development Organization(CADO).
Served as a Branch Secretary for the Sierra Leone Teacher’s Union (SLTU) a positioned I occupied for three successful consecutive terms, a lead facilitator for the Non-Formal Education in Tonkolili District in the Ministry of Education Science and Technology and a District Secretary for the District Budget oversight Committee (DBOC) from 2004-2018 respectively in the ministry of Finance an Act of Parliament enacted in 2004, aiming at monitoring poverty related issues in the district by ensuring public Authorities to be accountable, transparent and provide quality delivery services for citizens
